This was a lot of fun. I worked with the Hackney Pirates, a great local children’s charity, once before on a similar project, but here we took things to the next level.
It’s a chance for the young Pirates to show off their skills: cooking, dancing, building and dreaming their way through hundreds of video clips embedded in the site.
Everything on the site uses AJAX techniques, meaning that rather than refreshing the browser when you click a link, the new information loads into the existing open page directly. This allows for lots of fun animations, meaning the site is both slick and child-friendly, with a main graphical interface representing the video categories and a pop-up effect on loading each video.
